Galaxy A70 Review: Best Mid-range Phone from Samsung?

Samsung Galaxy A70 was launched in India mainly targeting those who wanted a premium experience for less than half of its Price.  Samsung is a Snapdragon 675 powered Smartphone with a massive screen, good camera, a huge battery for Rs 28,990 justified for a mid-range SoC powered Smartphone.

Design and Display

Samsung Galaxy A70 comes with a 6.7 inch full HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 20:9. The A70’s body made up of Metal, Plastic and Glass. Samsung has tried to make the rear panel look interesting by giving a prism effect, which shows different shades of colors when light fall on it from the different angles.  The glass on the rear side makes the A70 look like a premium phone.

We know that Samsung is always competing with themselves in the display department. Samsung Galaxy A70 has a Super AMOLED screen, so we could say A70’s display is undoubtedly the best than any other competitor. The Super AMOLED screen provides vibrant colors, excellent ratio. The display almost bezel-less, there is a water-drop notch at the top of the display which is called Infinity-U display by Samsung.

The display has two nodes called Natural and Vivid. On Vivid mode it provides less saturated and dull colors. The Samsung has included ‘Night Mode’ which is essentially dark mode for the system Interface.

Samsung offer triple camera with 32MP f/1.7 primary sensor which is accompanied by an 8MP f/2.2 ultra wide sensor, and a 5MP depth sensor. The rear camera also offers Live focus which lets users click portrait shots. The 8MP ultra-wide lens has a 123-degree field of view, which enables users to capture both ultra-wide images and videos.

The Galaxy A70’s camera offers 4K, HD videos at 60fps and 30fps. It also supports Super Slow motion mode.

The Galaxy A70 also features Samsung’s intelligent Scene Optimizer which analyses the scene across 20 nodes and adjusts the color, brightness, contrast to instantly optimize image quality. There is a 32Mp front camera for selfie with fun features like Selfie-Focus and AR-Emoji.

The camera would have been much better if it had OIS for stabilizing shaky footage; however EIS does a decent job.

Samsung offers powerful 4,500 mAh battery for Galaxy A70 which can easily last up to two days if you’re a moderate user. Galaxy A70 comes with a Fast charging technology with 25W with Type-C port.

Processor and performance

The Smartphone comes with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor with dual cores clocking at 2GHz whereas the other six clock at lower peak rate of 1.75GHz. In India, the device comes with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage, which can be expandable up to 512GB via microSD. This flagship device in the A series offers a smooth and seamless multitasking experience without any hiccups.

I wish the Galaxy A70 had Snapdragon 710 processor which helps to increase the performance rate and value for money. Nowadays, even budget phones like Redmi Note 7 Pro are offering Snapdragon 675.

The Galaxy A70 runs on OneUI, comes with the latest version of Android called Android Pie and is updated to latest security patch. The UI is neat and clean and is not fluid as Oneplus’s Oxygen OS or Google’s own stock Android.
