Hongmeng OS: Huawei’s Android Replacement

Before couple of days ago, tech giant Google has announced they are going to stop providing android service to Huawei and its sub brand called Honor. The move was made in response to U.S. order restricting company’s ability to trade with Huawei due to security concerns.

Huawei’s consumer business CEO, Yu Chengdong, confirmed that Huawei is developing its own operating system. According to him, the new operating system will supports all android applications which is terrific change. Huawei has been long rumored to be preparing its own OS but the details regarding the OS are not clear. Some reports say that Huawei’s new operating system would be called as “Hongmeng OS”. Although it’s still unclear whether Hongmeng is going to be the official name or just a code name.

The website of the trademark Office showed that Huawei has applied for registration “Huawei Hongmeng” trademark.
